Designing across languages

Why translated words deserve their own space.

Start with the longest version

Language changes the shape of a page. A heading that fits on one line in English may need three in German. Let components grow instead of clipping their text.

Keep the destination familiar

A language switch should lead to the same story in another language. Clear navigation and localised descriptions help readers keep their place.
